Last chances to book this unique show for your school or special event! CREATIVE BEANS brings you Fishy Flippers, a clown and storytelling show for children! Fishy Flippers has been performed at international festivals since 2011 and is coming to Swaziland from 30 Nov - 4 December 2012. FISHY FLIPPERS is an interactive, spontaneous and playful storytelling show, about a little boy who finds a lost penguin on his doorstep. The clowns invite the audience to explore the shores of their imagination as little Mpela and the lost penguin set off on an adventure in search of home, only to find it within each other. This is a story of an unusual and delightful friendship, told by two (very silly) clowns! But what happens when two clowns try to tell a story? Do they lose the plot? How do they find it again and what happens when they fall face first into it? Banana and No-idea interact and play with the audience to create a unique and playfully imaginative show every time. Duration: 45 mins. Suitable for preschool and primary school children In 'Robin Hood' style, for every school that pays for a show, we do a show for FREE at a children's home, orphanage, community centre or disadvantaged school. Contact Annabel ASAP for more info or to book. www.creativebeans.weebly.com / [email protected] / +268 7677 2808 In an open space in Palmridge township, three clowns from Clowns Without Borders South Africa gathered a large crowd of children on their way home from school. Fish dazzled them with his magic tricks and juggling feats, while Nabia and I mingled in amongst them as clowns. In no time, there was over a hundred curious children circling us, pushing to be part of the action. Thinking on our feet, we decided to take a group each to disperse some of the excitable energy. It is a fine balancing act to manage and hold this kind of space and so we ended up facilitating activities such as song, dance, call and response and follow the leader. At some point I stepped aside, took off my nose and sat quietly on a bench, watching the scene unfold. However, I was not alone. A sea of smiling, open faces surrounded me. The children sat by my side, patient and loyal, even when I wasn’t doing anything. I was deeply touched by this. Looking into their eyes, I realised that a little love goes a long way. After an exciting 4 months working in Europe, Creative Beans is back in Swaziland! Creative Beans drama classes will begin at Montessori International pre-school on Tues 9 Oct. Classes are fun, playful and friendly; using drama to build confidence and self-esteem, improve listening and verbal communication skills, creative movement and music to develop coordination and expression, stories to inspire the imagination, and games to encourage teamwork and develop awareness! Classes are run by Annabel Morgan, director of Creative Beans. Annabel is a highly experienced drama teacher, clown and storyteller. She has extensive experience working in communities affected by crisis and loves to nurture the playfulness and child spirit within everyone! Two rainbows marked the start of this unique collaboration between CWBSA, a handful of British clowns and some Lithuanian clown doctors. A good omen perhaps? Time will tell…
On Monday 18th June I went to Floren Skole in Hvaler, on the southeast coast of Norway, to perform parts of my solo clown and storytelling show 'Banana' and to share the work of Clowns Without Borders South Africa (CWBSA).
This event was organised by a wonderful woman called Hilde Nelly Spydevold, a dear friend and teacher at the school. Inspired by the show, and the work of CBWSA, she invited me to share the work with the primary school children. It was a huge success and they would like to support CWBSA in the future, with difference fundraising activities. "Thanks for your work with children one day at Floren Skole. The children loved it. Clowns Without Borders South Africa is a great organisation. You give joy and fun to so many children" (Teacher, Floren Skole) Every little helps! Click here to join our Circle of Laughter by making a donation so that CWBSA may continue to bring laughter and emotional relief to where it is needed most. |
